  1. Welcome! I used to be into NIN. Still a pretty decent band really.
  2. That's so incredibly difficult to compare. Norway has Burzum and Emperor. Sweden has Entombed and At the Gates. Norway has Gorgoroth and Darkthrone. Sweden has Dissection and Dismember. As BAN said some awesome music and some horrible music have come from both.
  3. Different strings for different sounds. I learned first on a steel string acoustic and I still play that a lot. But I take classical lessons at college and you need a nylon string for that. Sometimes the mellow sound of the classical appeals to me and sometimes I prefer the bright punchy steel string.
  4. What Are You Listening To? I'm so confused by that comment. Triptykon - Melana Chasmata
  5. Two records at the same time? Hardcore. NP: Hooded Menace - Fulfill the Curse. Holy shit these guys are heavy.
  6. Vesture Dipped in the Blood of Morning in my pants.
  7. Leviathan - Massive Conspiracy Against All Life
  8. Hi Chiroptera! First of all, welcome to the forum. I also have a pretty big Industrial interest - are you more into the Skinny Puppy/Front Line Assembly side of things, or do you like some of the weirder stuff, like Throbbing Gristle, Coil, Current 93 etc? If you enjoy Death, have you tried some of the other Florida death metal stuff? Morbid Angel is a personal favorite. And if you enjoy Death's more melodic side, you should check out Obscura. One of the few technical death metal bands I can stand.
  9. Anyone heard of/played this guy's guitars? Monson Guitars For custom built instruments, he has incredibly good prices, and he has some pretty impressive endorsements - Wrest from Leviathan, Scott Kelly (Neurosis)...
  10. They're first wave black metal. None of the first wave bands other than Bathory sound that much like modern black metal. It was more the imagery - Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Mercyful Fate, Venom - they were influential in that they were extreme (for the time), and had satanic imagery and lyrics.
