  1. I think it could be cool to go to Utrecht, lots of history and architecture there.
  2. Your picture of the US will be weird as all hell if you're using American forum members as cultural references.
  3. Think of the NSA as the body that handles the USA's private parts.
  4. I only speak intermediate French, and I'm learning advanced French just now. I used to know a tiny handful of phrases in Finnish but that's it. Atrocity is definitely the polyglot.
  5. I confess, I've been deceitful as well...all of the pictures I've put up are of some devilishly handsome chap with excellent fashion sense.
  6. Then we won't see much of each other...

That's true, but I think there's an a priori condition of personal racism that has to exist before that happens. Racism does seem to be common in groups - a lot of the types I've seen work on the idea of racial supremacy rather than necessarily disliking one particular race. However, my coworkers at McDonald's seemed to become racist because of their experiences with the Latino/a staff. They didn't talk amongst themselves a whole lot. There wasn't any 'white solidarity' thing going on - but a lot of the staff members were very resentful of the treatment they were given by some of the Latino middle managers. It appeared to me that their experiences soured their impression of Latin Americans in general and they made a conscious decision to assume that all Latin Americans hung together and had it out for them - which was frequently true. As a Protestant let me assure you that belief in one God is no guarantee of amity among men.
  8. Listening to a preview for this album by a Serbian group called Claymore. Sounds nice enough, good energy but kind of stock symphonic power metal.

  10. I've technically written 3 novels (unpublished, obviously) but two are rubbish and the other is a little rough although my brother liked it. There are a lot of ideas I have lying around but I've never finished, that one included. Finally, I am working on a dystopian future story just now but it'll be a while before I'm done. I do want to finish it though.
  11. 12. That way the scientist guy could translate from Old Norse into English for the other characters. I had this idea for a film or book involving politics, theology and war, but which does not involve any real-world species. There would be sapient aliens each speaking in different languages. That way viewers/readers can feel free to judge the actual issues at hand rather than seeing the humans or human-like species and automatically knowing to sympathize with them or oppose them Avatar-style. So too the fact that they all speak foreign languages would mean that English can't be used as an indicator of the normal. It'd all be alien, which means the viewer/reader has to properly examine the actual issues rather than making these conscious assumptions about who they're supposed to support.
  13. 'Collide' by Jeff Loomis. I love Christine Rhoades' voice, I wish she were in more. Plus this song is absolutely splendid.
  14. I come unarmed upon the hill. The predators do not kill me but ask where there might be more fertile hunting grounds. I direct them to eastern Finland, where they happily spend their days pursuing one drunk sniper wearing a stag pelt. My hill.
  15. Nothing, because my computer has a virus that turns the sound down to 0 if I leave it alone.
  16. I remember really enjoying the Red Green Show and Robot Wars.
  17. My second guess was that it was Commonwealth. By the way, there's new Iron Savior coming out!
  18. The preview for 'Distant Is The Sun'. New Vanishing Point, finally! It sounds kind of boring but the melody is nice and Silvio Massaro's voice is still great.
  19. Really? I always sort of liked their material from what I remember, I might just check again.
  20. Muh, my brother hates my music but we get along great, apparently much better than most siblings. I'm glad this is the case for you, having family members you can at least tolerate is very useful.
