Reading John Calvin just now, in order to understand exactly what intellectual tradition Presbyterianism has, and it's interesting. He does actually believe in democracy, but not very strongly in separation of church and state - mainly on the understanding that the very fact that the two spheres exist because God has ordained them in the first place, which would make any attempt to separate them somewhat disingenuous without proper understanding. He also seems very leery of the notion of revolution, which I think is because he believes it ought to be a last resort. He also champions abrogation as long as the underlying principles are not compromised. So far, nothing anathema.
