  1. 'Becoming of Man' by Communic. This band's technical and heavy side has increased, but their melodic sense is getting a little muddled. Their main weakness now is that their choruses aren't particularly memorable. Not Mystic Prophecy-level worthlessness in the refrain, but not very memorable. I hope this morphs into something stronger, the first song barely left an impression but this song is not bad so far and the second track was good.
  2. I've just got as far as I can in Hunter X Hunter and it's very good. The atmosphere is quite tense, I genuinely have very little idea of who will make it out alive. Their development of the two lead characters is very well done. In particular, the main character seems a lot like what I think George Lucas must have thought Anakin Skywalker's character arc made him - it's well-established that he's a good guy, even a likeable character, but he's got a very scary and vengeful side that actually stems from what makes him admirable in the first place. The other lead seems to have already undergone his development with regards to his primary flaw, but he's still interesting in how he reacts to the lead. The villains are also excellent in this arc, having developed in an interesting fashion on their own. So too the fights are enjoyably complex.
  3. I used to like that show, but it seems like it just ran out of ideas at some point. Essentially all of the recent killers have been people who follow some plot laid out in a book and it's the role of the protagonists to figure out what the passages ultimately mean for the killer's action - or they're just sexually gross in some way. Generally, I prefer Castle or Law and Order SVU.
  4. You're welcome! I've been a prog fan for almost seven years and clean-vocal prog done right is generally my favorite sort of music. I'll also recommend Age Of Silence.
  5. It's not hard, you only need one or two cords.
  6. I hope Communic's other work keeps up the intensity. I don't like their acoustic bits. It isn't as if it's incompetent, it just annoys me.
  7. 'Frozen Asleep In The Park' by Communic. The vocals are a huge help here, but the music is good as well. This drumming is especially noteworthy.
  8. Welcome. It's rare that we get a poster named for one of the finest dive-bombers of World War II.
  9. Hmm...I don't throw out hugs lightly. But given that you're in such hysterics that you, a language student, are using extraneous punctuation I think I hug is well-warranted.
  10. Hello, I'm Iceni and I like complaining.
  11. 'Under A Luminous Sky' by Communic. Please let the rest of this album be like this, this is great!
  12. Eesh. I can understand why you wouldn't want to listen to metal. Have you listened to any of The Piano Guys? They're nice to put on when my head's throbbing.
  13. I thought you were listening to the doom band from Yorkshire. They're one of my favorites in the genre.
  14. Wow, they definitely improved the styling on that thing. My brother's always liked Astons, me less so.
  15. Listening to progressive metal will cause your wife to have larger breasts and increase your chances of owning a BMW M3.
  16. I'm going to hoist my CAN'T BE ARSED flag.
  17. 'Astronomy Domine' by Voivod. ...and this is my favorite Agalloch album. You're on a roll.
  18. 'The Unknown Knowns' by Voivod. Hm, OK. This is enjoyable but the vocals are a little irritating.
  19. Anything having to do with anyone from Quo Vadis has my attention. I will check it out then.
  20. 'Ocean Bed' by Communic. They have my attention. This album certainly doesn't seem like the slab of brilliance people say it is, but some songs on here are very good. I'm looking forward to exploring their other work.
  21. Are you sure they didn't run a tuned variant or something? I did a quick search and in the Top Gear Evo videos they said nothing about a 200mph top speed.
  22. Which is the Evo model that has a top speed of 200mph? I know Evos have impressive acceleration (as do WRX Imprezas and your typical Mustang GT for that matter) but I've done a quick search and I don't see anything even remotely close to 200 mph. Your GT-R stat is incorrect, assuming we're talking about the latest model of GT-R; the top speed is more like 193 mph.
  23. 'Of Concrete and Glass' by Age of Silence. I'm glad I gave these guys another go-round, can't think of what stopped me before.
