Those first two solo albums were better than anything Priest released since Painkiller, including the post-reunion stuff.
In Priest related news, Rocka Rolla (1974) has been re-mixed and remastered by Tom Allom. 
I am in two minds about it. The band have stated how they hated the original mix and/or master. Depending on who you listen to, it seems to be the master they disliked because they were present for the mixing process and were happy with how it sounded in the studio. 
However, the weird thing is that I have owned a number of different versions of this album. The first cassette tape I had has harmonica on Cheater and NOT on Rocka Rolla (title track - which also had an extra verse). But other versions are the other way around, i.e. some harmonica on Rocka Rolla and none on Cheater.
Obviously I prefer the way I heard it first.
In any event, some of the Priest members seem confused about what they didn't like about the original, because there have been other mixes (harmonica in or out which can only be changed in mixing) out there for a long time, which must have been mastered differently too.
I've listened to a few clips of the remix and it does sound improved in some ways, but probably bricked to fudge in the master which is a shame. Apparently many songs that had fade outs now go on longer to a complete stop.
While I think re-recording old albums is a bit dumb, I do see the appeal of remixing from the original master tapes if the band was never happy.
A case in point is that coincidentally one of my other favourite bands Queen is re-releasing Queen I (1973), remixed from the original tapes and restoring a track that got dropped because they had a fight with the producer over it.
THIS, I will pay to hear, because it is true enough that the original album doesn't sound great. Not as terrible as they seem to think, but not great. I'd rate the album musically in their top 5.

That's the 30 year anniversary re-release of their 1994 demo tape with updated full color artwork. And yes they are indeed a symphonic black metal band, no death metal in sight. Their first actual full length release two years later in 1996 sounds quite a bit more professional, although obviously symphonic anything is not my bag so I'm gonna have to turn this off once I grab the URL.

Sinking my teeth into my Ulcerate/Cutting the Throat of God disc. Post punk, gothy riffs with their aggro dissonance. High on the atmosphere. I'm getting a yin/yang, masculine/feminine vibe....like a hulking front man, Henry Rollins in his prime or maybe the frontdude for the Cro-Mags screaming into the void while a beautiful ballerina dances blithely around like Tinkerbelle. Look, I like this, but it's basically a disso-death post metal album. Nothing wrong with that in my book. I'm an atmo guy. give me the dynamics, hit me with heavy musicality, hit me with a variety of influences which is my one beef with that Coffins albums y'all are in love with.. repetitive. Give me something to sink my teeth into. This works for me.
