Day one report from Minneapolis. Despite paying a ridiculous amount of money, we're all having a blast. Minneapolis is up there with the coolest cities I've ever been to. Friendly people, plenty of beer, and nice weather for the middle of August.
As for the show, we missed most of Mammoth. What I heard wasn't that impressive. Pantera sounded ok, but didn't do much for me. Never much of a fan anyway.
Metallica on the other hand fuckin killed. These guys shouldn't sound this good so far into their career. My only complaint is the size of the venue. Would rather be in a smaller place, but it is a minor complaint. Setlist was as good as I could expect. Now a free day to explore and then show #2.

Yes! Been a fan of Mr. Walker for a long time now. Even during his Order From Chaos days it's been clear the man just knows what he's doing, and makes music a cut above your average death/black thrash. I'd be hard pressed to find a more consistently excellent total catalogue in metal.

More than capable Entombed/Grave/Carnage worship for those so inclined.
I keep on forgetting I have to really sit down with this one and take it all in. I'm good with the genre and bands they're imitating, and despite being a huge part of the whole Necrophagist and Capharnaum wave that a lot of people have sort of retroactively disavowed, Willowtip really does have a great nose for some of this stuff.

Yeah it sucks when a band you want to see tours through without you noticing, glad my son told me Green Lung is touring here later in the year I would have missed that one, a small venue too, just the way I like it.
