Honesty flows through me - with purity.

When all is done we'll have always shown
A domination that was never known
SLAYER -Take Control - 2015

Almost everyone will benefit from the poetry I'm going to share. There's the music I heard on the radio, and there's the music I grew up jamming to with my friends. We loved hanging out and listening to killer tunes. I know we now reminisce; ah, the good younger days. Now that some time has passed, I wanted to shed some light on what's out there. Poetry that's coherent; prophetic, even, unlike the rambling quatrains by Nostradumas. So, I'm going to make it known how important and life affirming our music still is for us.

Since our tastes vary, lyrically, there are so many songs that set the foundation for their creative, beautiful  "noise". They're remarkable, and  can support the weight of the world. When you come to realize that there's no truth in fear, life simply improves.

We've been played for years by greedy, mere-minded liars. They're doing their best to quench our fire. That which burns deep inside. It is our spirit. The inner self. Our behavior makes us our own true savior. We all have the ability to think for ourselves. Doubt or any other absurd word, or anyone, or anything that will keep you from using it is not worth your time. If you're 'bored', you must have stopped thinking.  I'm done acknowledging absurdity. I'm likely to call it out.

Sound can overwhelm the senses, and it often appears offensive to so many, they just didn't get it. Appearances didn't help, either. Go figure. Nevertheless, the appreciation for that style of music is very strong. It's also looked down upon and seriously shunned. It only attracts those with the same good taste, and of course, from every beautiful walk of life. Still, we didn't hear these bands on the radio, except for an exceptional few I don't need to mention. There are other bands that deserve recognition. There are some talented, wise, and very mindful individuals out there, and their words need to be resurrected.  It's literature for the ages, and I found it in the most likely of places; underground.

Consider this an opportunity to see how the children perceived the world then. Have a 'V8' moment. Their words are a hidden treasure. Nobody, (except for an exceptional, budding community), really takes the time to ponder; "Hmm, maybe we can use our minds to be rationale human beings." Humankindness should be driving 'cause it seems that someone's belief is asleep at the wheel. I always see the lie in that absurd word. Just remain positive, with a clear intent. This is all for what we are meant: we're here to help each other out. Believing doesn't know anything. It's time to reflect and learn to respect what all this damn "noise" is really about.

Let's sit in silent contemplation, read those words that were expressed so many years ago. Take the time to appreciate their poetry. I can live by their words. They're brazenly honest. They give you pause to think transcendentally. My heartfelt intent is to deliver them more appropriately, mind you, and not as profoundly intense as it was delivered back in the day; when they were unwittingly deceiving us all. I reckon:

Overkill's -'In Union We Stand'- suggested  that we all unite. We should have taken heed from Anacrusis when they 'Sound(ed) the Alarm'. And when D.R.I. persuaded us to 'Tear it Down', the fans understood what they meant. I'm a fan. Testament, in their subtle way, also said there's no truth in 'F.E.A.R.' Nuclear Assault made us very well aware that we're all 'Brainwashed'. The great band, Vio-lence, did a wonderful job teaching us about 'Subterfuge'. Corrosion of Conformity has never failed to mention that our 'Minds Are Controlled'. Pentagram was concerned about our 'Dying World'. The fabulous Slayer!; fans would rather mosh to 'Circle of Beliefs' than adhere to any. Soulfly suggested we go 'Back to the Primitive' way of thinking. And I won't fail to mention that Sepultura helped bring my 'Inner Self' to attention. Prong certainly isn't in 'Denial'. Sacred Reich were able to see the unnecessary 'Crimes Against Humanity'. The band - Suicidal Tendencies - told me to 'Join the Army'. I did. Lifetime commitment. Forbidden's depiction of a life being 'Twisted into Form' is one way to put it. Ludichrist indicated that we're nothing to them but 'Stuff to Fill Graves'. I love Helloween's perception of our 'Future World'. Sabbat knows how to recreate a story with their album 'Dreamweaver: Reflections of Our Yesterday'. Heathen were probing some minds from their jam, 'Hypnotized'.  Faith or Fear?; 'What Would You Expect' from that killer band?  I bet they still jam.  Now, you should understand, I'm just expressing my concern and figured this would be a decent way to do it. There's more recent facts that have come to light; our cherished Armored Saint warned us that this is the  'End of the Attention Span'. And our wonderful, ever-loving Kreator confirmed that "hate is the virus of this world". Can't debunk that one. Also: Death Angel's mental health warning regarding 'The Electric Cell' is legitimate. Oh! This is worth mentioning; 'Balls to the Wall!' band, Accept, vowed that we are 'No One's Master'. I'll concur. Their words will live on. And on. And on. And as politics continue to dissuade us from our true ability, stupidity will reign supreme. Ask anyone.

Remember how it used to be? Experimenting. Testing us. Nonchalantly. They were ******* with you, and me. Subliminally. Now! It's all up in your face! It's nothing but a disgrace! Nothing really creative at all, just repetitive distaste! Are they testing our intolerance? Shouldn't we be appalled? Or are we so confined and desensitized to not care at all? Are we too dumb to realize that this will be our fall? If we don't stand up for the truth, it will be. It's bad enough we're living a lie. What's worse is me having known all this time. Nobody listens or nobody cares. It's "noise" to most of my people. Could be, they're scared. Who knows, but after everything is said; I am not happy with where we've been led. We need to join forces; like, if heaven and hell dealt with everything reasonably, and decided to just coalesce into one. Well. That right there would be one 'helleaven' idea. No need to argue about that anymore. It seems life teaches us a great deal; have we the willingness to learn, and understand each other and our ways of belonging to this world. We are capable of a higher intellect. It doesn't matter how we choose to get there, but it starts with intention. Whether it be true or not, you'll get what you serve.

Decency has descended at an alarming rate. Can I be more clear? Our pure state of mind has been left behind because our moral compass went limp.

I dig the craft of rapping, but many should stop their yapping.
It's very degrading, at most times, when
Girls be parading to dumb rhymes, seen and
Heard by children, available any time
It's constant nonsense, (and symbolic)
Signs are everywhere, (they sure do flaunt it)
These weak attractions. (they're diabolic)
What, why don't we care? Should make you nauseous
Mere distractions. Parents, be cautious. We just
Keep on dumbing the mind so far down
All aboard the lame brain train. Think about it
And get off before it derails.

'DISSING THE INDECENT' by LETGOOFEGO 2021

(i lost my poem, Humanity Divided; little manity are the blind masses under the influence of u, aka the man, which genuflects to the h.  The little 'y' was always asking why, allowing reason to surface, aspiring truth.)  yfio

Too many rulers, too many kings. All high on the throne. Uncaring, it seems. Why do we suffer by our own? Silly beans. If we're so smart, why do we allow these schemes? Power has corrupted the soul. We've lost touch. Now we're paying the toll.

yea, i rant

Through ill reasoning, and the commencing of words-which were so deceiving, disbelieving, still believing to u, the ones leading the herd, spouting lies about us. Absurd! Doing your best to have 'em unheard. Sure. Give us the part. But you know what's in our heart. That's why you lie. Pretend to care. Use silly words, make it sound fair. Pretending to protect us to the point of idiocy.  Invent a reality, and become the atrocity by setting an example. All the while, we hear the truth from these bands, enlightening those soon-to-be fans: about what you've always been promoting. Always lying! Always feeding us with negaTiVity! Dissing us and their creativity! But what did they say?  Did u happen to do the research? No!  F'n h, and u continue to mislead these sheep, while lying through their teeth! Ignoring everything we had and still have to say; "that you assholes are controlling minds, and you're making it worse every day!" "The children are the future.", my ass! You're but a disease in humanity's! Assholes! TV lies have always hypnotized. We are nothing to them. But I know better. We are just a calm collective. We are free from hate. We have the power to reason. With others, we can relate. It's not even a fight, just consider them done. Be proud of these guys. In my eyes, we've already won. Their words are wonderfully, well-thought out and they've earned the benefit of your doubt. Respect!

But what did they have to say? I know. Does u? Do you? Hmmm. Prove it! Show 'em what they wrote. Prophecies ignored. Conspiracies galore. Keep them masses scared, by making more war. There probably are some lame brains shaking in their shorts. Not so smart at all; trying to prepare us for a fall. It's not gonna happen because we can sit in silence. Maybe not, but we'll disapprove the violence. Take a firm stand, while greeting, shaking hands, shaking heads at you! There's no love there, on that messenger of filth! Inner selves everywhere, are smothered into despair. I'm decades tired of the ignorance and immaturity of it all. Has the train of thought derailed? Can't keep it on the tracks? Too many things distract? And our little being, our inner self, asks, "WHY!?!" None hear the cry. We might as well dye...our shirts. Make a point where it hurts. Turn the camera on to the face that distorts the human race;  it's only a production, without any taste. What a waste of our minds! We did this to ourselves; by allowing our emotional state react in alarm, when it was nothing but a charm-only to oppress! And by now, you all know it's a complete mess. But, I'll digress. Let's cooperate to be less corporate.

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!

    • Full length number 19 from overkill certainly makes a splash in the energy stakes, I mean there's some modern thrash bands that are a good two decades younger than Overkill who can only hope to achieve the levels of spunk that New Jersey's finest produce here.  That in itself is an achievement, for a band of Overkill's stature and reputation to be able to still sound relevant four decades into their career is no mean feat.  Even in the albums weaker moments it never gets redundant and the energy levels remain high.  There's a real sense of a band in a state of some renewed vigour, helped in no small part by the addition of Jason Bittner on drums.  The former Flotsam & Jetsam skinsman is nothing short of superb throughout "The Wings of War" and seems to have squeezed a little extra out of the rest of his peers.

The album kicks of with a great build to opening track "Last Man Standing" and for the first 4 tracks of the album the Overkill crew stomp, bash and groove their way to a solid level of consistency.  The lead work is of particular note and Blitz sounds as sneery and scathing as ever.  The album is well produced and mixed too with all parts of the thrash machine audible as the five piece hammer away at your skull with the usual blend of chugging riffs and infectious anthems.

There are weak moments as mentioned but they are more a victim of how good the strong tracks are.  In it's own right "Distortion" is a solid enough - if not slightly varied a journey from the last offering - but it just doesn't stand up well against a "Bat Shit Crazy" or a "Head of a Pin".  As the album draws to a close you get the increasing impression that the last few tracks are rescued really by some great solos and stomping skin work which is a shame because trimming of a couple of tracks may have made this less obvious.
