Ikard
One of my all time favorite bands. Slowly We Rot is an absolute fucking masterpiece and by far my favorite Obituary album. I also loved cause of death.

FatherAlabaster
It's unreal to me that we don't have an Obituary thread here already. Maybe it got lost in the shuffle at some point? Anyway, yeah, I agree with BAN. Cause Of Death is their high point IMO, killer songs made even better by those James Murphy leads. I liked The End Complete alright, but they never quite matched up to COD again to my ears. Nothing I've heard since their comeback has grabbed me, unfortunately.
MacabreEternal
Despite "Slowly We Rot" being the first vinyl record I ever bought and it holding a special place in my heart as being the first death metal album I ever listened to (blind bought) I still recognise the mastery of "Cause of Death" over the nostalgia trip that the debut represents. I think their last two releases "Inked in Blood" and the self-titled are okay, I still play them which is more than can be said for "World Demise" or "End Complete". The only thing I find as i get older is that Tardy's vocals can grate on me at times. Entirely a mood thing but there are days were I detest his vocals.

It just gets everything right, the sick vocals, the decrepit atmosphere, the punishing grooves, the perfect Celtic Frost cover, there's just not a single flaw that I can think of.Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk
SBird94
Obituary Aussie tour for 2020! Playing Cause of Death in full! I'm so keen for this Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Thrashman
I agree with BlutAusNerd, FatherAlabaster and MacabreEternal - Cause Of Death is easily the best release. I also own the World Demise and that Tardy Brothers album, but where the rest of their discography is concerned I am happy with my homemade 2CD compilation 🤓 Finally got to see them live last year, and was a little underwhelmed if I'm honest. Perhaps that was just down to so many people having hyped their live presence over the years, though; and/or the system not being as loud as it should have been. Would love to see them playing Cause Of Death in any case. On 1/20/2018 at 2:20 PM, FatherAlabaster said: It's unreal to me that we don't have an Obituary thread here already. Athame
I really like Cause Of Death, but Slowly We Rot is my favorite, one of the first death metal albums I have listened

Couldn't tell you why. Maybe I'll end up loving it eventually, metal is weird like that.
Perdition69
Cause Of Death is still one of my favorite death metal albums ever. Their self-titled album is okay too.
Corrosive
'The End Complete' was my first album by them and stands as my favorite. 'Cause of Death' is right beside it though. I actually like all of their albums. I've seen them live twice and had a blast both times. Last year they did 'Slowly We Rot' in full and now this year 'CoD'? Cool! I'm there!
DeathMetalBangers
Obituary is top 5 death metal bands for me. I like all albums. They stayed true to their roots and kept that old school DM sound.

mentalworms
'Slowly We Rot' was the album that got me into Death Metal. I only bought it because of the cover..... 34 years later..... I'm still fucking banging
megamike
Yeah Obituary is the band that got me into Death Metal as well. They were easier to like than some DM bands at the time.
