Dawn rocks. I know "Slaughtersun" gets all the attention but I really have to be in the mood or else it drags, I usually find myself enjoying these two releases more. Also, the last albums I enjoyed from both Opeth and Anathema.
NP: Atheist - Elements

I usually go Caress of Steel through Grace Under Pressure when I binge. I do play Presto and Clockwork Angels quite frequently as well. Saw them half a dozen times and it was always excellent. I sometimes think my inner monologue is narrated by Geddy I've listened to them so much!
This morning:
Wolvennest - Ritual MMXX
Cultes Des Ghoules - Deeds Without a Name EP/Eyes of Satan EP
The Suns Journey Through the Night Sky - Demo 2
The Sisters of Mercy - First and Last and Always
Mork - Black Mass Live
Starcave - Final Sins

Both excellent albums. Hard to pick a favorite from the early Rush albums. Never a time these have not been in rotation over the past 30+years that I have been listening to them.
Cirith Ungol - Forever Black

AMEBIX - Arise!
Tau Cross - Tau Cross
Starting to put this all together now. I had that first Briton Rites album 10 years ago and I used to play the shit out of it. Had no idea he was in all these other bands. I had a Seamount album too (their self titled, not the one you posted) band was from Germany, good album but I never would have guessed that was the same guy from BR singing. Gonna check out this Summerlands after my Tau Cross is finished. Should probably have a listen to the new Briton Rites while I'm at it too.

Was listening to this on Saturday. The playlist selections are pretty good. Hadn't heard Exhorder in ages. And anytime I get a chance to blast Hypnosia, I never miss it!

Talking about Phil Swanson in another thread has put me on a binge. My favorite vocalist in metal atm.
Briton Rites - Occulte Fantastique
Vestal Claret - S/t from 2020
Hour of 13 - S/t (my second favorite of his stuff)
Seamount - Lucifer's Bride
Lords of Triumph - Reaching the End EP
and of course the best thing he's been a part of - Sumerlands - S/t. Too bad he's not singing on the new one. This is a banger. I spin this 2-3 times a week at least. Never falls out of rotation.

Funeral Mist's Hekatomb is really good. There was a point in time where I listened to that on the drive to work every day for a month straight. So I know the first 2/3 of that album really well... last 1/3? No idea...

navybsn gave a Damn to JohanV in Headphones, amps and other audio gear
Just wanted to share my experience with a set of headphones, closed can, in the price range over 500 USD. I have the B&W P9 now after I owned a B&W P5 (< 500 USD). Both are really excellent headphones. Sound is truly amazing, for sure if you listen through the Onkyo DP-x1A and probably any other DAP. There is so much depth in the sound, it's really great to hear all the nuances in the music. Last is the amazing comfort that this set has. I can have them on for hours without getting annoyed or having sore ear shells.
Otherwise, there are so many quality headphones you actually should go to the shop with a set of music of various sounds, lo-fi BM, some death metal (Sulphur Aeon is good for testing!) and some thrash or so. You probably know that already but for me it was an eye opener how many headphones I didn't like until I heard the B&W.

I love Fields Of The Nephilim up through Elizium but I couldn't get into anything after that. I think Dawnrazor is probably my favorite these days. I used to listen to Christian Death a bunch, Catastrophe Ballet and Ashes were pretty cool, but I thought Only Theater Of Pain was the best thing they did.
Here's a project that may not exactly fit into the thread, but it's related - Dali's Car. A collaboration between Peter Murphy and Mick Karn of the band Japan. The songs don't really "go anywhere" but they're a little bit weird and fun to listen to anyway. "His Box":
It would be remiss to not mention some stuff from Peter Murphy's solo albums too, for the Simple Minds/easy listening crowd. I am the entry-level teeny bopper who still loves "Cuts You Up":
"Cascade":

I've been asking the same question lately and I'm eyeing the same headphones right now. Basically the best open cans for metal under $500. Supposedly scale up well with amplification, but are fine just off a phone or DAP, neutral sound that responds well to EQ, and tight accurate bass. Everything the LCD-2 is known for in a cheaper package (except the LCD-2 requires a decent amp).
Second one I'm considering is the Audeze LCD-2C. An updated version of my original LCD-2's. I love the sound of them but hate the comfort. Supposedly improved in the new model. They're twice the price of the Sundaras though and require an amp.
The last one I would like to find are the Hyland Jupiter, but they are made to order in England. Not likely to get a chance to test those out.
Others I've seen rec'd are the Modhouse Argon and the Grado Hemp. The Modhouse are difficult to get ahold of. I'm not a Grado fan.
Long story short, the Sundaras are my recommendation based on my research. You can buy them off Amazon and get free returns if you don't like them.
The Sony's are a classic. I know tons of people who swear by them. My favorite iems are the Periodic Be. Our buddy Mark (if he ever comes along) has experience with the Shures. If you were to replace the Sony's, I can't recommend the Meze 99 Classics enough.
