Sonata Arctica - Don't Say a Word
Man...I haven't listened to anything from this band for a long time.
This was my favourite song 3 years ago. -
Talking about snow, I was really happy with this winter. It was colder than any spring in the last 4-5 years (maybe more). We had snow for a month and a half and temperature up to -15.
In these later years temperatures barely went under 0 and snow barely held for a week, so it was nice having a proper winter.
Now we're in the rainy period.
It's so awesome when you find tabs for your favourite song by one of your favourite bands which is underrated as heck (seriously finding tabs for bands which I like is painstaking). Gonna start practicing playing the track tomorrow (since it's 3:23am now).
Anyway, my bass playing is progressing quite nicely. I've signed up to a music school...well more of a music course (since it lasts 6 months) because I want to learn playing properly from the start. It's a course for bass guitar, but I was also thinking about entering a course for singing as well, as soon as my throat gets better (have a little cold).
Everything else is good. Have a good day lads -
Wolfheart - Shores of the Lake Simpele
New album is great!

The tea which is most bought in my house is a 50-50 mix of plantains (sci: Plantago) and thyme. We usually don't buy those teas from the store (packed in those boxes), but instead we go to a "healthy food shop" (however you call 'em), you know, one of those where they sell all kinds of oils and diet food...stuff (I tried explaining).
Anyway, my personal favourite is the mint tea. -

Firstly, happy International Woman's Day to all metal ladies on this forum
And secondly...I've finally been to the Sabaton + Accept concert I was waiting 7 and a half months to! It was an amazing day (despite being a rainy Monday).Firstly, my friend forgot his concert ticket (!!!), but luckily my dad was free so he went to his house, got the ticket and brought it to the city where the concert was (distance: ~40km)...(we travelled by train and my dad drove there by car). Because of this delay we missed the opening act, Twilight Force, which only played for half an hour. Accept came next and they rocked the whole arena! The feeling of seeing these legends live, in flesh and blood, I could describe, but it would take a lot of text on this post
Anyway, they played classics like Restless and Wild, Metal Heart and Balls to the Wall, as well as some of the newer stuff and the atmosphere was amazing! (got into a few moshpits during their performance)Then, when Sabaton started to play the whole arena just exploded! When the first song, Ghost Division, started I spent most of the time just trying not to trip or fall because the crowd was moving in every direction...like boiling water basically. Almost every song was greeted equally by the audience, with a lot of noise, but at specially the song Last Dying Breath which was dedicated to the defenders of Belgrade in WWI. Although this song means a lot to us, still I think that the best one was the acoustic version of The Final Solution. The acoustic version is a f##king tearjerker..much better than the original, IMO.
When the concert ended, my friend and I walked 4.2km to Kalemegdan - a park and a medieval fortress. Despite visiting it a lot of times, in all weather conditions, I've never been there at night. It looks absolutely wonderful!...and eerie in some places
I was so glad we made that visit because parks closer to the river bank look amazing when looked upon from the fortress. All those lights shining, making a perfect contrast, like fireflies in the night.
(and here's a little picture I thought you'd appreciate..I call it "A Path to Darkness")
After this visit, we walked 4.2km back to the train station to catch the morning train. (note: we aren't familiar with bus lines in this town so we decided to walk, and there was a closer train station but the first train departed in 7am, while the one we caught was at 4).Overall it was a great experience. A lot of memories to look back to one day. And I really hope this isn't the last time I see Accept live.

Yeah, it's only digital, but it's not 50 euros for just 1 album, but for remasters (if I got it right) of the first two albums and a live album (and whole bunch of other sh#t). Honestly, if I had the money, I'd buy it, but I'm kinda short.
Hold up... Why is this thread in Forum Games anyway? (and not in Off Topic?) -
@RequiemPlasmic and Pure is a song on the new album (just mentioned it as the best of it IMO). "Sonic Excess in its Purest Form" is 1 album title, "Severe the Wicked Hand" another album
I also admit I don't know Crowbar much, only getting to know them better recently. For such bands I usually mostly listen to the songs I like the most, from various albums: "Planets Collide", "Glass Full of Liquid Pain", "Plasmic and Pure", "Walk With Knowledge Wisely", "Amaranthine", "Like Broken Glass", etc
-
So...did anyone saw Wintersun's crowdfunding project? The safe goal was reach after 24 hours...daamn.
And the teasers of the new album...stunning! -

I need to hear more Crowbar. They fascinate me and have awesome titles. Don't think I've heard anything since 'Planets Collide'. Any suggestions? I like doom, groove and catchiness if that helps.
The new one (The Serpent Only Lies) is pretty good, a worthy successor to Symmetry in Black. Todd 'Sexy T' back on bass after 16 years. Sever the Wicked Hand (2010 or 2011) a good recommendation too...
Yeah! The new album is great...Plasmic and Pure is a killer! Sonic Excess in its Purest Form is also a great album IMO. -
Crowbar - Glass Full of Liquid Pain

Battle Beast - King for a Day
Great track, solid album - classic Battle Beast.

Hey guys.
I was wondering if any one of you here plays World of Tanks?
Thought we could add each other and play together. -

Duke - since you have a 5-string, that means it has an extra lower string - BEADG - so yeah, if your guitarists were playing in standard tuning and then tuned their low strings down to drop D, you could still accommodate that. You'll be able to play down to an octave below a standard baritone guitar, which is tuned to B standard, a fourth below E standard: BEADF#B. Alternately, you could always get slightly thinner strings and tune everything up, so that your lowest string is an octave below the guitars, and then you'd have an extra high string instead. That's how I have mine set up at the moment and I personally enjoy it. Either stand should be fine.
Thanks man! I still have a lot to learn. Although I'm not sure which system to study - since the European calls that note H, not B...and our B is your B flat (?) I think. Anyway, beside that I don't know any other differences between the US and EU systems, but I guess there are some. Although the US system is more available on the internet...

I can't wait for December! That is to say, I can't wait for Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi. Does anyone know any little thing about it? Even rumors? Maybe I should have posted this in the movie thread, but it is what is on my mind.
Man...you've got a lot to wait.
Meanwhile I can't wait for 21st when a game called Renegade Line launches its alpha and also for Sabaton + Accept concert on 6th of March :3

I don't know if it's the same for bass but for a guitar drop tuning generally means only changing the top or thickest string. Going from E standard to drop D would just involve changing the top E to D. EBGDAD rather then EBGDAE. That's the common approach anyway. Waters get a bit muddier for Drop C, Drop B, and Drop A.
Muddier? Since now I own a 5-stringer, I've heard dozens of times that 5-stringers (basses) are used by musicians so that they don't have to tune down a 4-stringer during a show, right? Since the standard tuning for a 5-stringer is G-D-A-E-B, means I can play Drop ...B? Or is the Drop D because of the thickness of the 5th string? (I think someone said Drop D...I don't, it got messed up in my head right now)
Anyway, I'll be buying a bass stand as soon as I get my paycheck, but when I browsed the site of our music shop, I noticed 2 types of floor stands - classic ones and neckless ones (as I call them):
http://www.mitrosmusic.com/media/inlineimage/upload_9228_1_d.jpg
http://www.mitrosmusic.com/media/inlineimage/upload_4730_1_d.jpg
I know about this first type (1st link), but I've never seen this 2nd type (2nd link) until I browsed the store. And quite frankly, I like it...it just seems so odd
But the question is, is it really reliable? I mean, it doesn't have that vertical rod with a "hook" on top which help holds the guitar's neck.
I mean, my bass will be resting in a corner of the room (shielded between 2 furniture pieces) so no one will buzz around there to potentially knock it down, but still....is there any huge difference between these stands? -

Congrats on the bass, seems like it was a good choice.
The string height especially on the bass is something thats really down to the player preference, some are super aggressive and need the strings pretty high, some prefer them really low. I´ve recently done an adjustment to my bass playing so that i can have the strings lower yet i can play much faster with just fingers..
Thanks
I'd like to play faster, but fast or not I should really put them higher because right now the strings are basically licking the 1st and 2nd fret wire. When it comes to amps I wont buy something huge. But first I'll collect money and then I'll see which one I'm gonna buy.
(of course I'll probably seek help here xD) -
Yesterday, I went with my bassist friend to another town to buy that bass guitar I was talking about (Ibanez GSR 205, 5-stringer). Feels good man. Can't get it out of my hands xD
(can't share any pics because my phone camera is sh#tty)The dude that sold me the bass had like 20 guitars hanged on the wall. Not sure if he's a collector or is re-selling xD
(although from what he spoke it sounded like he's a collector...)
Anyway, my friend and I tried the Hammer I originally wanted, but I quickly abandoned the though of buying it when he brought the Ibanez. Its sound was so much better than Hammer's. Even better thing is that the Ibanez is passive (although it said on the site it's an active one...his mistake in writing) and because of this he dropped the price down by 20 euros (payed 160 instead of 180 which was the price he put on the site).
Both my friend and I agreed that's it's a pretty good guitar; the only thing now I have to do is adjust the strings, because they're too close to the fret wires (if that's their name). Of course I wont do this by my own.Now I've created a list of what I have to buy next: cable, strap, tuner, amp. The first 3 things aren't expensive, but I don't want to gamble with the amp and buy a used one. Instead I'm gonna save as much money needed and buy a new one.
Hope you peeps are doing OK
PS: I really didn't want to make this post a wall of text, but I always end up doing it

@MacabreEternalpacking comes and goes, but the house is there to stay
Hope you have a nice time in those pubs!

Awesome, I'm glad you're healing up well, and that Ibanez should treat you nicely. Good luck with everything.
Thanks!

Going to buy that bass I wanted tomorrow...if all goes well. I've been having some slight stomach problems over the past week, so I just have to watch out what I eat for breakfast..so that I don't feel the need to go to the WC halfway there
Like I said before I'm going with a friend who's more experienced than me, but I changed my mind about the bass. I'm not going to buy the Hammer I originally wanted, but an Ibanez GSR 205 (sold by the same guy...not sure if he's some sort of a dealer because is selling like 4 basses at the moment xD). The general quality is much better than Hammer - which is why it costs 80 euros more
http://www.kupujemprodajem.com/big-photo-39794535-1.htmBtw that finger nail that I've broken is healing well. I do feel some pain when I push it a little harder, so I'll be careful while playing the bass. Thought of focusing more on picking and fingering anyway, until the nail fully heals (because I don't want to practice without that, middle finger, because I might get used to not using it).
